Word Import for Confluence · last updated 5 September 2026

Short version: this app collects nothing, stores nothing and sends nothing anywhere. Everything happens inside your browser, on your own Confluence site.

1. What data the app collects

None.

The app has no servers, no database and no analytics. It does not collect personal data, usage statistics, diagnostics or any other information about you or the people who view your pages.

2. How the app works with your content

This app both reads and writes. Here is exactly what it does.

Your Word documents. A file you drop into the app, or an attachment you pick from the page, is unpacked and read inside your browser. The document is never uploaded to us or to anyone else — there is nowhere for it to go, because the app has no server of its own.

Pages it creates. When you press Import, the app creates pages in the space you are in, using your own permissions. It writes only what came from your document. If a page with the same title already exists, the new one gets a number in brackets rather than overwriting anything — the app never edits or deletes pages that were already there.

Images. Pictures found inside the document are uploaded as attachments to the pages the app has just created, so that the text can refer to them. They go to your Confluence site and nowhere else.

Reading the page. To list documents already attached to the current page, the app asks Confluence for its attachments — again with your permissions, not its own.

3. Where the app runs

Entirely on Atlassian infrastructure. The app carries the Runs on Atlassian badge, which means Atlassian verifies that it does not send data to any external service. There is no third-party hosting, no external API and no outbound network request of any kind.

4. Settings the app stores

None. Your choice of how deep to split the page tree lives only in the open page and is forgotten when you close it. Nothing is stored in Confluence, nothing in your browser.

5. Data residency

Since the app stores no data of its own, data residency requirements are met automatically: your content never leaves the location where Atlassian stores it.

6. Access and deletion

There is nothing to request access to or to delete, because nothing is held. Uninstalling the app removes it completely; your attachments and pages stay untouched.

7. Sub-processors

None. The app uses no third-party services.

8. Security

The app runs inside Atlassian's sandbox and reaches no network except your own Confluence site. Every request is made with the permissions of the person using it, so the app can never reveal a page that person could not already open. Scripts and styles found inside table cells are stripped before the file is built, so an exported file cannot carry executable content.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date.
