Clickable Diagrams for Confluence → replacing SVG out

Looking for an SVG out alternative

What breaks, what you keep, and what it costs to move.

What is happening to SVG out

SVG out displays SVG diagrams in Confluence with their internal links clickable. It has around 840 installations. Its last update was in February 2023.

It is built on Connect — the older Atlassian app platform. Since March 2026 Connect apps can no longer be updated, and Atlassian is winding the platform down through 2026 and 2027. An app that nobody has touched in three years will not be migrated by its author.

What this means in practice. Nothing breaks on a fixed date with a loud warning. Connect apps degrade: the macro stops rendering on some pages, then on all of them, and your diagrams quietly turn back into flat pictures with dead links. Nobody notices until someone needs the diagram.

What you actually lose

What you hadAfter it stops
Diagram rendered on the pageAttachment stays, but shows as a flat image or not at all
Clickable shapes leading to pagesDead — the links are inside the picture
Zoom and panGone
The SVG files themselvesSafe. They are ordinary attachments and stay on your pages

That last row is the good news: your diagrams are not held hostage. Whatever you move to, the files are already where they need to be.

Your options

1. Do nothing

Reasonable if your diagrams are decorative. If people actually navigate by them — architecture maps, floor plans, process flows — this postpones a problem into a moment when you will not have time for it.

2. Move to a full diagramming suite

draw.io and Gliffy are alive, actively maintained, and do far more than display files. They are also priced accordingly, and they expect you to draw inside them. If your diagrams come from Illustrator, Visio or a design team, you would be paying for an editor you will not use.

3. Move to a viewer built on the new platform

This is what we build, and this page exists because of it — so read the next section knowing that.

Clickable Diagrams for Confluence

Same job as SVG out: attach a diagram, drop a macro, links inside it work. Built on Forge, the platform Connect is being replaced by, so the end-of-life problem does not apply.

What is the same

What is different

What it costs

Free for teams up to 10 people. Above that, a few dollars per user per month — the current price is on the Marketplace listing.

How to move

  1. Install the new app. Both can coexist while you check things.
  2. On each page with a diagram, add the new macro. The attachment is already there — nothing to upload.
  3. If shapes had links inside the file, they keep working immediately.
  4. Optionally, open the macro settings and re-point important shapes at Confluence pages instead of URLs. This is what makes them survive reorganisations.
  5. Remove the old macro.
How many pages? Find them with Confluence search: macro = "svg-out" in the advanced search. That gives you the full list before you start.

If you have questions before moving

Write to support@horizonventures.app — including "will it handle my file", with the file attached. We would rather tell you it does not fit than have you find out after installing.
